A family business in carpets since 1936, run today by Marc and Jean-Louis van Caster. Their handwoven rugs hang on modular panels in the Bonheiden showroom, arranged like an art gallery, and the advice that comes with them covers dimensions, colour and design in about equal measure.

I photographed the swatches for their sample book, so clients who can't make it to the showroom can still judge colour and texture. I also shot a series in the showroom itself, with daylight. A few of the images were made at Ark38 in Aalst, a design showroom in a former weaving mill, where van Caster rugs lie among the furniture.
